Can you separate the fruit from the flock?

Viewers squint as they try to solve this tricky optical illusion, in which the goal is to find the fruit camouflaged among exotic birds.

The Ornithological Scavenger Hunt, created by Hungarian illusion maven Gergely Dudás – aka the Dudolf – specifically challenges puzzle fans to find four kiwis, the fuzzy fruit, hidden among a flock of kiwis, a species of large flightless birds with fur native to New Zealand.

Distinguishing fruit from poultry may seem easy at first glance. However, in this particular eye exam, brown kiwis are nearly indistinguishable from birds, which have the exact same shape and coloration.

Luckily for perplexed puzzlers, Dudás has provided an answer key showing the locations of sneaky kiwis, which we’ve included near the end.

The kiwi quiz is one of many mind-blowing illusions in the Hungarian puzzle magician’s arsenal. In another animal-themed puzzler last week, viewers were challenged to find the baby chicken hidden among the bunnies in 30 seconds. Meanwhile, anyone who can find the snake in this illusion in 15 seconds will apparently break a world record.

Optical illusions like this are often simply intended as a mild diversion from the stresses of modern life – but they also have real scientific value for medical professionals. These puzzles are credited with helping researchers shed light on the complex inner workings of the human mind and how it responds to its environment.

Dr Gustav Kuhn, a psychologist and expert in human perception at Goldsmiths University in London, once told The Sun that illusions are important to our understanding of the brain: “We usually take perception for granted and rarely think about the hard work that goes into it. underpins everyday tasks, like seeing a cup of coffee in front of you.
