Elaborating in a separate Instagram post, she wrote: “Over a million views, excited for the opportunity to educate the public about hygienic contact lens wear.

“I carefully separated all the contact lenses and counted 23 in total. I had to use a very fine surgical instrument, jeweller’s pliers, to separate the contact lenses.

“They were basically stuck together after sitting under the eyelid for a month.”

Talk to InitiatedDr Kurteeva added: “In nearly 20 years of practice, I had never seen anything like it. The patient didn’t believe it either and asked me if I was sure of the number I was counting. “

She added that the patient was discharged with eye drops and felt “already better”.
