Dallas apartment builder eyes Denton rental project

A Dallas apartment builder is heading to Denton for their next project.

Lang Partners has built rental communities in North Oak Cliff, the Dallas Medical District and Fort Worth. The builder also has a project underway for Uptown Dallas.

Now the developer is planning a large rental community in Denton.

The 326-unit apartment project will be located on East Sycamore Street in the Railyard area of Denton, near the city’s historic downtown area. The site is located near the Denton town center commuter rail station.

Lang Partners plans to begin construction in October and will open the apartments in 2024, according to planning documents filed with the state. JHP Architecture designed the project.

Dirik Oudt of Lang Partners said he liked the Denton market for its apartment development potential.

“Overall it’s very busy,” Oudt said. “I love the city. It has lots of fun cultural and educational opportunities. I think it’s a great place to live and retire.

Lang Partners has been in business since 2009. The 260-unit Zang Triangle apartment complex in North Oak Cliff was the developer’s first major project in Dallas.

Earlier this year, Lang Partners purchased two blocks on Hall Street at Katy Trail in Uptown Dallas. The developer is working on plans for a mixed-density rental project on the main site.

Lang is the latest Dallas apartment builder to target Denton for projects.

More than 56,000 apartments are being built in D-FW, the most of any US metro area.
