Kuvrd, for manufacturing universal waterproof and dustproof lens caps, launched a new product called the Water bear. The company says the small, washable and reusable square can safely and instantly clean any type of screen, lens or display.
Using, storing, and organizing lenses and screens while keeping them clean isn’t easy, and the WaterBear seems like a simple, unobtrusive solution to the problem. According to the company, WaterBear screen cleaners can stick to any camera, lens, car dashboard, smartphone or tablet, or virtually anywhere with a solid surface. This makes them quick and easy to access whenever needed while ensuring users always have a lens cleaner close at hand.
The WaterBear (aptly named for its durability and small size) is made of a tri-blend synthetic polyamide nano-activated carbon buff material that Kuvrd says ensures it can safely clean any type of glass. , screen or monitor without the risk of scratches.
The company says they’re more versatile than microfiber cloths that are limited to certain screens or types of glass, and the WaterBears are better at removing smudges and smears. The “sticky” side of the product is made with an adhesive silicone gel so it can attach to almost any device, camera body, computer, or reasonably flat surface. According to the campaign details, when the patch loses its effective stickiness, users can simply wash it off with water and air dry it to restore the sticky texture. The company also boasts that each WaterBear will get dozens of uses before you have to wash and rinse them, saying the cleaners will last “as long as you need them”.
The small cleaners come in two sizes (small and even smaller) and can discreetly stick to any object they might be used on without leaving any residue. The pads are designed to take advantage of the unused surfaces of multiple devices, making it easy to always have a cleaning tool handy on the job.
Kuvrd WaterBear Universal Cleaner is available on Kickstarter for as little as $13 for a pack. At press time, the campaign had already received over $33,000 of its $2,500 goal (1,336%) with 33 days remaining. KUVRD expects deliveries to begin worldwide by July 2022.
